7 Fun Facts for Hosting Your Own New England Clambake Party
When you live in New England, seafood is pretty much in your blood.
Think: New England Clam Chowder, buttery lobster rolls, and steamers. In fact, New Englanders love it so much that for over 35 years, B&M founders Brian and Mickey Doherty have been traveling up and down the East Coast catering clambakes for thousands.
Curious about hosting your own Clambake?
Whether you’re planning a Backyard Bash or beach-themed wedding, here’s what you need to know!
1: The Menu Options are Endless: In fact, your clambake can be anything you’d like it to be! Most often, it includes classics like lobster and steamers, served with potatoes, corn and some type of meat such as hot dogs or sausage. Get inspired by our popular full-service catering menus like the “New England Clambake” and the “B&M Lobster Bake” to craft your dream party menu!
2: Planning Ahead is Key: That’s why our team will arrive about 3 hours prior to serve time to get everything ready for your guests!
3: Lobstah Your Way: Our menus include 1.25 lb. lobsters. However, if you would like bigger lobsters, we can make that happen! Just let us know ahead of time, and we can price out the difference for you.
4: No Mess, No Fuss: Speaking of lobsters, we know those buggers can get messy, so our staff will gladly crack the lobsters for your guests as they make their way through the serving line. And no need to worry about us digging any holes in your yard either! Our team brings a portable, above-ground pit and cooks the lobster fresh right on-site.
5: Not a Fan of Lobster? No Problem! While we’re clearly big fans over here, we get it – lobster isn’t for everyone. That’s why we like to give you and your guest options when planning your menu! Feel free to substitute other B&M favorites: BBQ Steak Tips, Center Cut Sirloin, ½ BBQ Chicken or Grilled Swordfish.
6: We’ve Got You Covered: Kick up your feet, and let us do the dirty work! Our full-service menus include travel & labor, disposable plates, utensils & condiments, cooking equipment, skirted buffet tables, trash cans, liners & removal, a canopied cooking area and of course: plenty to eat!
7: You Can DIY in Less Than an Hour: With our Clambakes to Travel, you can now be your own Bakemaster any time of year! Your kit will include Lobster, Steamers, Mussels, Chourico, Corn on the Cob, Red Bliss Potatoes & Onions packed in rockweed in a reusable pot.
