How to choose a wedding caterer.

This the season for holiday parties, sleigh rides and engagements! Now that your sweetie’s popped the question and you’ve got that gorgeous diamond ring on your finger, you may have a million other questions spinning in your head. When should we set the date? Who is going to be in our wedding party? How many people should we invite? What kind of theme should we have? What style dress?

And one of the most important questions, What kind food will we have on our menu?

While we may not be able to help you say yes to the dress, we’ve got you covered when it comes to good food! Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when it comes to narrowing down your dream wedding caterer!

1: Nail Down Your Date:

Before you start thinking of the menu, you should probably book your date! Make sure that your venue and your caterer have the date you want available, so there aren’t any unexpected surprises later on. Not sure on your venue yet? Here are some of our favorite local New England venues we’ve worked with in the past!

2: Choose Your Wedding Theme:

From rustic fall weddings to beachside bashes, there are dozens of different types of themes you can choose for your big day. And the food should match your theme From Classic Clambakes to our elaborate ‘This Ain’t Yo Mama’s Traditional Wedding Menu’ to simple Backyard Barbecues, B & M owners Brian and Mickey will help make your wedding a true reflection of you and your unique style, no matter what theme you’re going for. You can also discuss additional options like passed appetizers, a slider station, and other fun add-ons.

3: Consider Your Party Size:

Are you having a small backyard wedding with 40 people, or a fancy sit-down dinner with 300 people? You’ll want to discuss this with your potential caterer, so they have a heads up on your party size when it comes to menu planning and cocktail hour. Here at B & M Catering, we’re prepared to cater weddings of all sizes — big or small!

4: Schedule a Tasting:

We’re a big believer in trying before you buy! That’s why we offer complimentary tastings for our couples so they can sample some of our favorite dishes before their big day. Our commissary is located in Pawtucket, RI, and we would love to have you drop by for a trial and to get a chance to meet in person!

5: Will You Be Having Happy Hour?

Will you be serving alcohol on your wedding day? If so, you’ll want to think about hiring a bar service. Fortunately, we make it easy by offering not just traditional catering, but also professional bar services. From open bars to cash bars, we offer flexible packages, glassware rentals and more so you can choose the right fit for your budget!
