Congratulations to Michelle R. of Medway, MA.

She is this month's winner of the Facebook Fan of the Month Beach Blanket.

green Beach Blanket

Our beach blankets are being spotted from Maine to Cape Cod.  Our fans may have enjoyed one of our famous New England Clambakes or an outrageous Pig Roast  - but they are always happy to receive "The Fresh Lobster" on a beach blanket, too.

We have even seen our beach blanket used to keep a fan's legs warm at a recent Bruins hockey game.

Every month we choose a new Facebook Fan to enjoy a "The Fresh Lobster" Beach Blanket.

Feel free to Like us on Facebook  us!

The event will be held at the Governor Henry Lippitt House.

gov lippit houseThe New York Times states that "The Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum is the only intact authentic example of original 19th-century high style Victorian decoration in Providence." David Wrenn, Lippitt House Administrator, told us that the home was originally built with the intention that it would be used for quite a good deal of entertaining.  As such, it has retained that legacy in that many events continue to be held here.  It is the perfect space for coming together for special times.

lippit gridBuilt at 199 Hope Street in Providence for textile merchant Henry Lippitt, his wife, and their six children, the house was completed in 1865 and occupied by several generations of the Lippitt family for 114 years. Lavishly decorated with colorful stained glass windows, ornate carved woodwork, and marble statues, the Lippit House is widely known for its many faux finishes. The spaces include a collection of fine art and antiques, elaborate fireplaces, inlaid floors, and Victorian high-style ambiance.

The Lippitt House’s beautiful spaces create an exceptionally nice venue for a variety of social events such as bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and receptions.  They also offer their facility for retirement parties, anniversary celebrations, and other community events.

From spring through autumn, events may be held in the garden space which includes a beautiful fountain.  Tents are often erected for the comfort of guests.

More Lobster Romance

Last week, we posted a blog about the "romance factor" of a lobster dinner.

lobster valentine's day

The article was called "Spice Up Your Valentine's Day" and it mentioned a study in which it was determined that men and women believe that a lobster dinner is the most romantic meal of all time.

Sure enough, some of our readers took the not-too-subtle hint and ordered lobster dinners delivered to their home to play a key role in their romantic evening plans.

We just love when our customers send us feedback on the meals we provide, especially when they involve romance, so we were particularly pleased with this letter we just received:

lobster dinner

Greetings!

Thank you so much for sending along the fabulous lobster dinner.  We ate the whole thing up except for 2 potatoes!

What a terrific meal, it really reminded us of Boston!

Just before we sat down to eat, my husband, George started talking all romantic...

"Come on pretty baby. It's time to eat. You look terrific and smell great"

I looked up to realize he was talking to the lobster...not me!

A million thanks for a lovely dinner, anyway.

We'd love to hear your favorite lobster meal stories, too.

Pizza Soup

Recently, on a cold, New England afternoon, we were sitting in our conference room reviewing our menus and events when Tim mentioned he would just love a big bowl of steaming soup.  Mick, Brian and Bob all agreed that soup would be just the right food for just that moment.  Of course, we could have headed out to our commissary for our traditional clam chowdah. (How do YOU say it?), or Tim's special vegetable stew.  But then we thought we might like to find out what our fans are cooking up for soup these days. So, we put out a request on our Facebook page and on Twitter asking folks to share their favorite soup recipes.

We are very grateful to everyone who sent along their family recipes.   Here is one we would like to share with you today.

"Oh, do I have a soup for you!

Please keep in mind that I come from a large family and exact measurements are pretty much up to the individual's tastes.

We call this recipe.... PIZZA SOUP"

pizza soup

Ingredients:
  • 5 lbs.* Beef stewing meat
  • 3 TBS Butter
  • 2 lbs.* Onions (yellow not sweet)
  • 3 lg cans of Whole Tomatoes (nothing with seasonings and if you prefer to use diced or crushed that is fine, too)
  • 1-2 cups of Water (optional - you may NOT require)
  • 1 pint of Heavy All-Purpose cream OR Half-and-Half (plain, no flavor)
  • 4-5 cups of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Method:

* Braise beef in butter in large stock pot

* Add onions and sauté until tender

* Add the tomatoes

* Allow this mixture to simmer for 2-3 hours (the longer the better as the stew meat will get tender)

* Stir occasionally - add 1-2 cups of water IF THICK

* Slowly add cream (to desired coloring - not too light as it will affect the taste of the soup)

* Allow the soup to warm up again - 3-7 minutes

Add the mozzarella cheese to each bowl before serving.

Note:  Cheese can be added directly to the pot, but tends to clump up. This way you assure each person has the "cheese".

Time to serve....
