Congratulations to Jennifer D.!

She is this month's lucky winner of our Clambake to Travel drawing. Jennifer will be invited to pick up her Clambake-to-Travel at our kitchen in Pawtucket, RI. She can expect to bring home a traditional New England Clambake in its very own pot.

We are quite certain that Jennifer and her family or friends will enjoy digging into this DIY clambake dinner.

The take-home pot holds a full meal of lobster, steamers, mussels, chourico, corn on the cob, red bliss potatoes & onions.

do it yourself clambake to travel - lobsters, potatoes, clams.

Every month we hold a "Win-A-Clambake" drawing.  Jennifer's name was chosen this month from all the entries we received.

We think she will be quite pleased to find out how easy it is to prepare our clambakes to travel!

You might be really surprised to find out that it is super easy to prepare a Do-It-Yourself Clambake in your home, backyard, tailgate event, or at your campsite:

The first thing you do is add water to the pot we provide.

Then, you will place it on your stove top.

 That's it!

In less than one hour, you and your guests can enjoy their own Traditional Old-Fashioned Clambake.

You could become next month's winner.
Simply visit the "Win a Clambake" page to register.
Please, feel free to enter every month.  The more the merrier.

Catering Your Winter Events with Comfort Food Favorites

catering options

While we specialize in outdoor grilling, clambakes and pig roasts, it doesn’t have to be 80 degrees and sunny to have a good time. Here are some tips to make the most of your winter event – from weddings to tailgate parties – including some of our go-to menu options!

  1. Let Us Bring the Food to You

Baby it’s cold outside…so why leave the house? Let us bring the food to you! That’s right; we’ll deliver hot items right to your door within an hour’s drive of our commissary in Pawtucket. Just keep an eye out for our big white truck with the lobster on it!

  1. Aim for Hot & Hearty Foods

While we love a good Raw Bar, you’ll want to fill your winter menu with mostly hot and hearty foods. Some of our favorite comfort foods for cooler months include our  Chicken Marsala, Lasagna, Roast Stuffed Pork, Shepherd’s Pie, and Baked Scrod. And you can’t go wrong with traditional Mac N’ Cheese, which we offer in a number of unique varieties like Buffalo Chicken, Salsa con Queso and a New England favorite: Lobster!

If you want to pair a healthy veggie with your main course, consider Candied Baby Carrots, Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon or the Harvest Salad – a fall and winter favorite packed with walnuts, cranberries, crumbled bleu cheese, mixed greens, onions, cucumbers, and peppers with an apple cider vinaigrette. Browse all of our a la carte menu items here to find something that catches your eye!

  1. Get Your Soup On!

Whether you’re hosting a wedding, office luncheon or football tailgate, soup can be a wonderful option to incorporate into your menu during the bitter New England winters!

Guinness Beef Stew, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo and Roasted Corn & Butternut Squash Bisque all make for cozy and delicious winter menu add-ons! Oyster crackers, disposable bowls and spoons are included with the soup, so you don’t have to worry about it!

  1. Go Family Style

Keep it simple by choosing from one of our fixed menu options, like our Old Fashioned Family Dinner Buffets! The Roast Dinner – with Roasted Turkey or Pork, Whipped Potatoes, Stuffing, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Butternut Squash, and Rolls & Butter – is a wintertime crowd-pleaser.

Want something with an Italian flair? You’ll love our Little Italy menu, which includes Ziti, Italian Meatballs, Sweet Italian Sausage, Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan, Fresh Garden Salad, and Italian Bread & Butter. Mangia!

  1. Don’t Forget Dessert

Surprise your guests with a sweet treat after the main course! Pass on pudding or watermelon, and opt for a classic New England favorite: Apple Crisp! Pair with Hot Spiced Cider or Hot Coffee for the ultimate post-dinner treat.

  1. Create a Warm Ambiance

Last but not least, you’ll want to create a warm and welcoming environment for your guests! If it’s an outdoor tailgate party, this may mean providing hand-warmers to keep your guests nice and toasty.

For winter weddings, consider brightening up the space with candles (even if you have to use electric ones), seasonal flowers and a hot signature cocktail (like Spiked Cider or Hot Toddies). Looking for the perfect venue to host your event? Here are some of our favorites

A Gluten Free Feast: 5 Tips for Crafting Your Perfect Gluten Free Catering Menu

gluten free catering menu options

With Celiac disease and gluten sensitivities on the rise, these days it’s important to include gluten free items on your menu to accommodate your guests. In honor of National Gluten Free Day this past weekend, we’re sharing our top tips on crafting your perfect gluten free menu – without compromising the taste!

1: Understand What Gluten Is in the First Place

Your cousin is requesting there be some gluten free menu options at your big event. Before rolling your eyes, understand that eating gluten can cause health issues and/or discomfort for someone who has Celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or a gluten intolerance.

So what is it, anyway? Gluten is a protein found in grains like wheat (and its varieties), rye, spelt and barley. Therefore, items like pasta, bread (yes, even our famous corn bread), pastries, croutons, flour tortillas, and beer are a no-go for your gluten free guests. Beyond those obvious foods, it can even sneak its way into many items like dressing, sauces and gravy, so make sure to ask your caterer what items do and don’t contain gluten!

2: Don’t Feel Bad About Asking

On that note, never feel bad about asking what ingredients are in a particular meal, or making special requests due to food allergies or restrictions. It’s your event, after all!

Take a lesson from one of our brides, Courtney, who was diagnosed with Celiac disease six months before her wedding. “On a whim, I called up B&M and explained the situation. Without any hesitation, the delightful woman {Stephanie} on the other end of the phone assured me the entire menu for our day could be made gluten-free and safe for me to eat (and other attendees with similar diet restrictions).”

Are you in a similar situation? Please feel free to reach out to us prior to your event, and we’ll be happy to put together a list of what is or isn’t gluten free on your menu.

   3: Stick to the Basics

Luckily, many items on our menu are already naturally gluten free. Stick to the basics you’re familiar with to ensure you’re comfortable with your menu.

Don’t worry, they may be “basic” but they’re still full of flavor!

Some items that are naturally gluten free include our BBQ sauce, mojo for chicken, potatoes, Roasted Pig and its accompanying sauces, burgers and dogs (just skip the bun!), corn on the cob, steamed clams & mussels, all our bean dishes and the Grilled Veggie Medley. And these are just the basics!

Reach out for a full list of our gluten free items, or if you’re unsure about anything.

4: Skip the Fried Seafood and Go Raw, Baked or Steamed!

If you’re on a gluten free diet or catering to gluten free guests, you’ll want to skip the fried food! Sorry, that means clamcakes and coconut shrimp are off the menu for you. Luckily, many of our seafood items are gluten free so hosting a Clambake could be a great catering option for you, especially for an outdoor wedding or backyard affair.

Guests can enjoy delicious seafood items like lobster, steamed clams, and steamed mussels with their accompaniments like potatoes, corn on the cob, salad and refreshing summertime favorite: watermelon. A Raw Bar may also be a great add-on, including gluten free items like shrimp cocktail, shucked littlenecks, and shucked oysters. Just be mindful of the sauces, and ask if you have any questions!

   5: Don’t forget the apps!

Every good party has some tasty appetizers, and luckily there are many gluten free options available for you.

Crudite, assorted cheese (just skip the crackers), fresh fruit, hummus (skip the tabouli), tomato & mozzarella skewers with pesto, shrimp cocktail, and scallops wrapped in bacon will wow all of your gluten free guests! Reach out to us for a complete list of gluten free stationary appetizers and passed hors d’oeuvres.
