Oh, baby! It’s time to start planning your BFF’s or daughter’s baby shower, and you’re full of all the emotions. No worries, we’ve got you covered with simple tips to make baby shower planning a breeze – plus delicious catering options so you won’t have to fuss about the menu.

  1.  Choose a Theme for the Baby Shower

First things first, you’ll probably want to choose a theme for the baby shower – be it woodland animals, Winnie the Pooh, or nautical. Sprinkle in decorations throughout the room to really embody the theme you’re going for. If you know the sex or name of the baby, you can also make a few decorative signs to hang.

  1.  Plan Your Menu

Once you have your theme nailed down, it’s time to plan your menu! B & M Catering makes this part simple for you, as we offer a variety of full service and a la carte options depending on what you’re going for. We 100% recommend doing a buffet with fan-favorite options like fruit & veggie platters, clam chowder, sliders, salads and skewers.

The beauty of working with us is that you can feel free to incorporate your own cake or favorite add-ons to complete your menu. Fun fact: one recent shower we catered, the mama-to-be wanted to incorporate local PVDonuts!

  1.  Make it Interactive

Keep your party guests entertained (and take the pressure off the mommy-to-be) by planning a few games. One tried and true favorite is having each guest cut a piece of string to guess the belly size of the guest of honor. The closest guess wins a prize! Baby Shower Bingo is also a hit during the gift portion of the shower.

  1.  Consider a Special Takeaway Favor

Consider having a special favor to give your guests before leaving – as a “thank you” for coming near and far. Keep it simple and gift them something they’ll actually use (or eat) like a mini sugar scrub or small jar of colored M&Ms.

4 Fun Facts About St. Patrick’s Day

4 Fun Facts About St. Patrick’s Day (Plus How to Pre-Order Your Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner)

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner – and you may be already getting in the spirit with “Kiss Me I’m Irish” tee shirts, green décor and plans to attend South Boston’s iconic St. Paddy’s Day Parade.

Our team at B & M Catering is also preparing our special Corned Beef & Cabbage menu for the big day. In honor of this beloved Irish holiday, today on the blog we’re sharing four fun facts about St. Patrick’s Day!

  1. The Man Behind the Holiday

So who is St. Patrick, anyway? Turns out, he’s a patron saint of Ireland, who died on March 17th, the day we celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day.  According to popular belief, he was actually born in Roman Britain, and kidnapped as a teenager where he was taken to Ireland.

  1. The Luck of the Four-Leaf Clover

Four-leaf clovers have long been a symbol of good luck and fortune. Turns out, finding one may be even more difficult than you thought. According to Live Science, most clovers have three leaves, and the ones with four leaves (or more) are the result of a very rare genetic mutation.

While luck may not be on your side finding one, in 2018 a young girl broke the Guinness World Record for the most four-leaf clovers collected in one hour when she spotted a whopping 166!

  1. Pour Me Another Guinness!

A dark Irish stout, Guinness is typically the go-to brew of choice on St. Patrick’s Day. In fact, according to IrishCentral, roughly 13 million pints of Guinness were expected to be consumed worldwide last St. Patrick’s Day. That’s a whole lot of  “Irish Champagne!”

  1. The Perfect Irish meal

If you’ve ever eaten at an Irish restaurant or gone to an Irish friend’s house for the holiday, you’ve likely enjoyed a Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner – which is actually an Irish-American tradition. Typically pink in color due to its curing process, corned beef is made from a cut of brisket and usually served with cabbage and potatoes.

The menu comes with corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, turnips, carrots, onion and Irish soda bread & butter.

Birthday Party Success

yelp catering reviews

"I wish there were more stars, I would rate B&M higher!

I hired B&M catering for my friends 40th birthday party and I could not have been happier with the food or the service.

Stephanie was great to work with to plan the event. She assured me I would feel like a guest at my own party and she was 100% right! She did not try to upsell me at all, she actually took down the number of apps I ordered and we had the perfect amount.

Jason and Ally (on-site crew for the day) were so fantastic and took care of everything.

They showed up early, were there throughout the event and made sure everything was all set/cleaned up before they left. They were available if we needed anything all day!

Everyone at the party raved about the food and the service.

We did the New England Lobster Bake and while it was a little expensive it was totally worth it.

It was an experience for everyone at the party!"
