Highlights and Bites: Cohasset Historical Society Annual Clambake EVENT

Welcome back to our Highlights and Bites series, where we take you behind the scenes at some of our favorite events! Last time, we featured a beautiful backyard wedding filled with fresh seafood, tender steak tips, and plenty of good times. This time, we’re trading the backyard for the beach — and taking you along for a classic New England clambake with the Cohasset Historical Society.

For a little background, the Cohasset Historical Society has been dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing Cohasset’s rich history since 1928. With four museums around town, a research archive, and community events like the Annual Clambake, the Society works to keep the town’s heritage alive and accessible for everyone. They offer a hands-on way to connect with the stories that shaped this coastal community.

Now, for the main event… The Clambake Event

There’s nothing quite like a clambake right on the beach! Every September, Cohasset Historical Society throws its Annual Clambake at Sandy Beach, which is the perfect way to say farewell to summer. It also gave us the perfect excuse to roll out our pots and picnic tables by the ocean ☀️. Guests spent the evening enjoying fresh seafood, warm sunshine, and good company. The easy, relaxed atmosphere was elevated by the local fresh seafood menu served up by B&M staff. 

With B&M’s full-service catering, everything from setup to cleanup was handled. We brought the tables, tents, and all the equipment needed for a true beachfront clambake, allowing the Historic Society and guests to enjoy their evening.

Guests made their way through the buffet line at their own pace, grabbing plates of lobster, corn, potatoes, and more before finding a seat at the red-and-white checkered tables set up on the sand. It was a laid-back setup that let everyone move around, mingle, and go back for seconds.

Bites We Loved

Lobster and Corn on the Cob

A full lobster, a generous ear of sweet corn, and drawn butter on the side — there’s a reason this plate was the main event. It was the perfect combination of fancy, simple, and fresh. Exactly what you want at a clambake!

New England Clam Chowder

Served alongside the entrees, a hot cup of chowder, with plenty of oyster crackers. It’s a small detail, but it sets the tone right from the first bite.

Steamed Clams and Mussels

Steamed clams and mussels, fresh from the pot, with broth and butter for dipping. It doesn’t get more coastal than that!

The B&M Team

Our team had about a dozen staff on hand — setting up the food, helping guests at the buffet, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. It was a busy evening, but it never felt rushed. Even our staff were able to enjoy the beautiful backdrop of the event, while keeping the tone professional and friendly.

— Good food, good people, and a sunset over the water, you can’t ask for much more!
